“It was truly inspiring for me to feel the passion both the filmmakers and their subjects poured into this film. People in Hollywood say that you ought to see every dollar spent up on the screen. In this case, I also saw every ounce of compassion and late night hour. If a film like that can move someone like me, who has seen more than his share of both pain and inspiration, to fall in love with strangers a thousand miles away, well…somebody is definitely doing something right!”

“Reparando is a dangerous film. It’s a threat to a complacent, privatized faith that provides comfort but not change, or solace but not shalom. I found myself strangely attracted to the costly but simple strategies of incarnating the faith in the most brutal and intimidating contexts I’ve ever been exposed to. There are prisons in Guatemala City where the prisoners run the show, where unholy alliances between the authorities and the inmates has gotten new followers of Jesus killed. Our school has walked there. There are slum communities in that same city where extortionists have tried to squeeze money out of key Christian leaders like those in the film serving in those places only to hear the gentle response of Esther, “No, this is God’s money and God’s ministry. If you want His money, you’ll need to take it up with Him.” I myself have absorbed the smell and feel of hope in that place.

Reparando is about the power of a gospel too rarely demonstrated. It makes what passes for Christian Faith in so much of the west, seem like diet food, when we’ve been invited to the banquet of our lives. This documentary will elevate your spirits as it does your vision for a faith that is transformational. The people you meet on camera will walk with you months after the movie is over. Do everything you can to see it.”

“I am using the REPARANDO film in combination with vision trips into Latin America and also with Latin American church planters who we hope will be moved, along with our training, to do ministry in a holistic way in the toughest communities of the continent.  The story is told so well that I took my whole family to LA LIMONADA to see the work first hand.  After showing the film everyone is silent for a minute and then great discussion takes place of how we can be better Kingdom agents of transformation.  I intend to continue using it in the ministry of the MULTIPLICATION NETWORK in the coming years.”

God is at work reconciling and transforming what has been broken by sin. Sin did not erase the divine beauty in creation, it just made it harder to see. “Reparando” is a moving story of a group of people who have learned to see the beauty of the divine in a very broken community. “Reparando” is a film that will touch your heart, will give you the eyes of Jesus to see beauty in the midst of brokenness, and will give you hope.

I consider REPARANDO one of the most accurate and compelling documentaries on Latin America and urban mission that I have ever seen. It is
authentic, passionate and honest in its portrayal of the transforming power of the gospel in the lives of battered Guatemalan people. I pray that 1000′s of schools and churches will see this film!

I was a little skeptical when I was first invited to see REPARANDO. I have been over-exposed to mission videos that present the “success’ stories of North American missionaries. But this film is different. The “heroes” are Guatemalan Christians. And the stories that are told are authentic rather than just promotional pieces. This film deserves the widest possible distribution.
